What is the Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code is an energy healing method developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson that helps identify and release trapped emotions stored in the body.
These trapped emotions are emotional energies from past experiences that were never fully processed.
Over time, they can become lodged in the body and may contribute to:
emotional overwhelm
recurring patterns
physical discomfort
and a general feeling of being “off”
By identifying and releasing these trapped emotions, the body is able to return to a more balanced state.
The Emotion Code works by communicating with the subconscious mind to uncover and release emotional energy the body is ready to let go of.
The Heart Wall: A Shield and a Barrier
One of the most well-known concepts within the Emotion Code is the Heart Wall.
When we experience emotional pain, the subconscious mind may create an energetic “wall” around the heart as a form of protection. While this can help shield us from hurt, it can also block us from fully feeling, connecting, and opening ourselves to life.
Another powerful aspect of the Emotion Code is the concept of inherited emotions.
We don’t just inherit physical traits from our ancestors; we can also inherit emotional patterns and experiences.
These inherited emotions can become trapped in the body and influence:
how we respond to situations
what we feel drawn to
and even patterns that repeat across generations
Releasing these emotions can create a ripple effect, not only for you, but for future generations as well.
I was initially skeptical about energy healing, having never engaged in any type of energy work before discovering the Emotion Code. My journey began with a persistent pain in the bottom of my foot that conventional methods couldn’t alleviate. Desperate for relief, I consulted a naturopath who was learning the Emotion Code at the time. She suggested we try it, and although I was hesitant, I agreed.
Through a series of sessions over the course of a few months, we worked on identifying and releasing trapped emotions associated with the pain in my foot. To my amazement, the pain completely disappeared and has never returned since 2018.
This experience opened my eyes to the profound effects of energy healing and sparked a deeper curiosity about what other trapped emotions might be impacting my well-being.
Since that initial experience, I’ve continued to explore and apply this work in many areas of my life.
What I’ve come to understand is this:
We don’t just carry emotions from our own experiences—we can also carry them from our environment, our relationships, and even our family lineage.
When those emotions remain unprocessed, they can influence both how we feel and how our body functions.
By releasing what the body is holding onto, we create space for:
greater emotional clarity
improved physical well-being
and a deeper connection to ourselves
While the Emotion Code is a powerful starting point, many people discover that what they’re experiencing goes deeper than trapped emotions alone.
In my work, I don’t separate healing into just one method.
I use a combination of Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code, Akashic Records, and intuitive guidance.
Sometimes we’re working with emotions.
Sometimes it’s deeper imbalances.
Sometimes it’s subconscious beliefs.
Most of the time, it’s a combination.
